This news tidbit from one of the local news stations (highlighting is mine):
Turnpike service plazas in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Martin counties have fuel but motorists are experiencing long lines of up to three hours.Gasoline purchases are limited to $20.00 per vehicle, NOT per person...
As of 4pm today, Florida Power and Light reports:
           Without            With            Total customers
Palm Beach 644,300            19,200            663,500
Bou has power!!!
Update as of 6am 10/26/05:
           631,100            32,400            663,500
This is just scary. The news and FPL are both reporting that it may be up to 7 days before 1/2 that number get power and a month before the rest.
charmin' news, huh? As Dax says, just damn.
I saw something on the NBC news tonight that pissed me off again at the media. About a 1000 black people were standing in line to fill their gas bottles for their grills. Now the news was predicting this thing for a week and they wait until after the gotdamn storm to get their gas bottles filled? Another clip showed a lne in Miami at a relief office-they had benn in line for up to four hours and you guessed it again-all black and bitchin about having to stand in line. Damn what is the country coming to. Call me a racist or whatever but it seems odd to me that the news shows this instead of the good things that people are doing trying to get their lives back together.

Ogre: Not in THIS family. ;-) But let's check in 9 1/2 months and see if the childbirth has increased in the state of Florida.
