Ok, it's official. I am now going to start posting at
http://onehappydog.us
and just make changes as I go. Please change your RSS, your bookmarks and any other links you have to me. See you over there!
I have finally succeeded in getting my new blog up and running. That is a story within itself. Now I need to see if you can get to it and comment on the latest and greatest post. Seems to have a little snafu and I'm not sure until I get more data which way to go to correct it. Please go to
THIS LINK (http://onehappydog.us)
and try to comment on the post entitled "Trying out the new site".
Your assistance is appreciated. Just don't want to bring it up full time until I know you can comment and give me grief. ;-)
Still working on the move. Seems that once they saw it was in movable type, they thought I would want to keep it in movable type. And screwed up my passwords, the data they moved over and more. It is 'high' priority, but haven't worked on it all weekend. I will follow up on Monday to see what is this issue. I paid them... I will get satisfaction! ;-) Soon... you will have pictures... honest.
Such high hopes that I could move before I went on vacation. Just didn't happen. That's ok, gives me time to figure out some other items. Like how in the world to set up two columns.
I'm outta here tomorrow... after the boys first game of T-ball. Should be interesting.
Until I get back, Happy has agreed to guard the place.
And he has a lot to guard... the little bunnies are still around:
In more ways than one. I'll be taking a vacation with the kids starting Saturday night and won't have internet access.
Along with that info, I'm moving my blog. The money I made tutoring has allowed me to buy a website hosting package. They are moving my posts over today. You heard that right, they are moving it for me. Not the template... but all my archives. And if they finish it today, I'll be posting here tomorrow to point you to the right direction of my new site. It may take me a while to get it looking the way I want, but I'm not going to post in two places. I'm excited. Pamibe has been giving me tips along the way... THANK YOU!!!
Phew... too much going on in one place... also... can you see the new babies we have in our yard?
Yep, Happy found a hole of baby bunnies. The eyes aren't even opened yet. Hope they make it.
This is the best post entry I have seen in a while:
Thank you for praying for Cynthia and the return of her daughter. This is wonderful news.
Carmen's (HERE TO GET TO POST, click on comments to join the party). You can find out why HERE.
Seems I am not the only one having problems with commenting... as I see by THIS POST from T1G.
I am looking into options, like trying to get moved to the new mu.nu or even going back to blogger. The problem with going back to blogger is the only way to get my old posts here... back there... is copy/paste. Not gonna happen.
While Pixy created me a blog at the new mu.nu, I seem to have communications problems with Pixy (it is not Pixy's fault) and not enough time to deal with it. Guess you'll just have to enjoy the posts and I'll have to hope you can comment.
Otherwise, head over and wish Bou's sister, Morrigan, a Happy Birthday...
Seems everyone has great stories, new blog children and I just can't keep up.
I don't even want to go through my side bar and see what works and what doesn't... so if you notice something, let me know. I use Snarfer (RSS) and hardly every click on those links...
Pamibe is working hard on her Canine Carnival... Happy was the first on the list!
Tink has her 'Week In Space' going nicely, along with cool pictures of my honeymoon spread around at the bottom of some posts.
Zen is busy with reminders for office workers on how to have a peaceful work day, but I bet most of those would work for me... wonder if I can remember how to meditate?
LemonStand reminded me that girls can be just as difficult and funny as boys... silly how kids love knives.
Straight White Guy can't seem to get enough of Birds... so he posted about more Birds... take the time to read the comments... very entertaining.
Prochein Amy has a cute cartoon about boogers.
And anything with Bugs in it has to be good... from Primodonna...
Practigal reminds us that Boys do the strangest things...
wRitErsbLock hits her 60,000th... and it was her friend Amanda. Hope she didn't hit her too hard.
Richmond helps hubby with high-heels... huh?
Ogre runs amok killing thousands... ok, not really. But I do enjoy his humor.
I couldn't let CalTechGirl be the only sucky blogger... I'm #1, I'm #1...
Contagion gives birth... seems a perfect fit for the bad example family.
Lukie needs help with forms on web pages. I have no clue... and no time to look it up. I'm working on algebra problems (and this post).
Still funny a day or two after... is the live blogging that Mrs. Who had going on during the superbowl.
Any other opinions on the best superbowl commercial besides Erica?
NSFW... and I almost lost my breakfast. But it certainly made me laugh as well. Oh it is sweetthings birthday as well!!!
While Bou's kids are picking webkinz for their killing ability, mine are buying pink leotards and tootoos so they can watch them walk. They laugh so hard at the 'pink butts'. Sigh.
Nothing like Cow pictures to make you smile!
Need a good laugh about the elections... go HERE. Then again, having boys might cause me to find this more humorous than most other people.
Harvey is having spoon problems... go help him at THIS POST.
Nothing like a mom/daughter post to make you smile.
And a dream come true! A great reason to Blog.
It is the season to remember humanity. When the day is shorter, the darkness is longer and many people are depressed. What can be done about it? How about an act of kindess? It was amazing to me that the first two blogs I read tonight had something on this very thing.
First was Cynthia at THIS POST. The first 3 people who commented will receive something from Cynthia. Just because.
And then at Zen Habits POST HERE... and since I liked how it was written... here is a quote:
So how can I start this change, in some small way, and have it have little ripples throughout the world? There are so many ways, but I’m going to take a page from Oprah. She did a “Pay It Forward” episode where she gave 300 audience members $1,000 each, with a camcorder and a challenge to spend the money on charity or individuals in acts of kindness. (See also: Pay It Forward Foundation)
I do not have $1,000 to give away, let alone $300,000. So I ask myself, “Self, what do I have that I can give to people?” And self answered: you have an ebook, and you have blog traffic that you can use to help smaller bloggers. Neither of those are amazing gifts, but they’re small acts of kindness that I’d like to give away.
Here’s how I’ll do that: (Go to the post to find out what will be done)
And for me... I'll offer to make a Christmas digital scrapbook page for the first 3 people who make comments. It will require you to send me pictures to use on the pages. Please understand, those pages take me a couple of days but I will do my best to get them to you asap after I receive your pictures. A little act of kindness from many different people can cause a large ripple through the world.
It has been a very long two weeks. First the kids and hubby sick, then me. And I can't seem to shake it. Sucks But beyond that... here are some cool links:
Want to know about Space Stuff? I'm talking Stars and Astronomy.
Or consumer recalls?
How about an annoying game that Harvey posted?
This had me laughing out loud.
Puke is just the thing I need to read about since I have boys.
Nice to know I am right there with Mrs. Who on Blog Reading Level.
And being about a week behind on everything. I must say I love this post that Tink did for Tammi... might be because that boy is my Niece's son...
Lately I have been spending a lot of time reading how to get grip on life HERE.
There is a ton more out there. More later. I hear Tot screaming "No Tater, No" and what sounds like slapping. Of course I'm typing instead of running in there to see what is happening. Sigh. 8am and it has already started. Breath, relax, breath, relax. Hmmm. Now I hear laughter. Wonder what they did? Time to go find out.
miscounted. I actually missed two days... the 14th and the 16th. Oh well, such is life. Still haven't heard from the bug, but I am sure that means she is having a swell time in the pirate pool (btw bug, I didn't see any pirates in the pictures you sent). I also presume this means that Tater has recovered from his bout with the fever.
They are trying to make the best of it this time as Tater will be in first grade next year and they will not be able to just pack up and go whenever they want again. Must be hard, NOT.... What does she think we normal (or abby normal, if you prefer) people do all the time.
Oh darn, I just realized I picked up the anti-flu Kleenex(r). I really hate them. The citric acid, or maybe its the sodium lauryl sulfate, makes my nose burn.
Oh, sorry about that, totally off topic. Now what were we talking about. Oh yes, Bug and her worries about not being able to just pack up and go to Disney or Sea World or etc. No doubt the potatoes will adjust just fine, so it must be some latent genetic disorder of Bug's that makes her insists she must visit these places at least once a month. She must have gotten from Brains, because I know for a fact that a latent genetic disorder of this magnitude does not exist in my side of the family. And since she happens to be a part of my side of the family, it only stands to reason that she picked up via osmosis from Brains. Though I guess it is possible she caught it from her ex. Yeah, let's blame him. Ex's are always good for placing blame. (Hi ex, you know I'm only kidding, right? right? LOL).
I forgot to ask when the Bug, brains and the potatoes would be back. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe Saturday, maybe Sunday. Who knows? In the meantime she has left it up to me to fill in for her and so far I felt I have been doing a good job. I only missed one day. So what if I post late in the afternoon instead of at the break of dawn like she would. And it's not my fault ImageShack doesn't want to cooperate and let me load pictures of their vacation for all the world to see. (I think she must have made a deal with them. What do you think?)
Anyway, I'm not really sure when she is expected back and in the mean time I will try to make sure I regale you with my wit of boredom and see whom I can make yawn the loudest.
More on the beloved elephand:
The largest elephant on record was an adult male African elephant. It weighed about 24,000 pounds (10,886 kilograms) and was 13 feet (3.96 meters) tall at the shoulder! Most elephants don't get that large, but African elephants grow larger than Asian elephants. ~San Diego Zoe
UPDATE: T1G says that "Bloodyspite has set up a chat for you blog crawlers..." just put in a name and press the login button. Enjoy!
I can't believe it wasn't long ago that I was sending Contagion names for his blog. Now he is getting older himself. And to celebrate it will be the Blogcrawl of 2007.
While I will try to participate, sleep and children seem to cause an issue to staying up too late for anything. But I will certainly enjoy it the next day. Fun fun for everyone. Join on in when you can tonight... it can get interesting. And if I do make it... I will be...
included is a barf bag, water and some febreeze spray. Enjoy!
Seems that the elusive Pixie is having a birthday. Pixie has helped me out so many times I can't count them. And mu.nu. wonderful. Thank you Pixie and have the best of birthdays.
I have to brag... my blogson made it to the big times. His blog was written up in the October 2007 issue of Parents magazine. Go on over and give him a high five. He deserves it!
My sister, Tink, loves to scrapbook... she is even involved in some on-line stuff where she submits her designs. Really cool... but she has never offered gifts for linking to her like Jody at Iowa Geek. That's right, go look at what this woman can do. If you like scrapbooking, you might enjoy using her ideas for yourself. Very cool. Go on... take a peak.
Seems that more emails got sent to RCT-6. Yipeeee!!! In fact, over at Blackfive, it is said:
The Marines he's been passing them out to are very pleased. They may not have time to write back, of course, but he wanted you to know it's making a difference to them.So much of a difference, in fact, that the RCT wants to do a little something to celebrate. They've decided to send a gift to the 6,000th person to email them.
They'll fly an American flag at RCT-6 HQ, and them mail it to you. The flags will come with a certificate showing your name and the date on which it was flown. It's the Regimental Combat Team's way of showing you how much they appreciate all the support that has suddenly been flowing their way.
If they get 10,000 emails, they'll do it again for the 10,000th. And if they someday get 20,000 -- it's hard to say how many emails might eventually show up over time -- they will do it yet again.
Wow. That is wonderful that more people are emailing them. Please, please keep sending an email or two each day. Or sit down and write a bunch..
The e-mail address for the campaign is rct-6lettersfromh AT gcemnf-wiraq DOT usmc DOT mil and they have their own blog site!
Sometimes it is hard to know what is legitimate and what is not. Sometimes it just doesn't matter. Someone is trying to get emails to the 6th Marine Regiment aka RCT-6. It doesn't take much effort or time to write an email. You can find more information at Blackfive HERE (the latest post) and HERE (the first post). I have also included the email if you highlight the following EMAIL HERE. Yes, I wrote an email. I will likely write one again tonight. Please remember, this is for those who support our troops. And every military man deserves our support for helping our country be the best in the world.
This is all CalTechGirl's fault. I couldn't resist seeing what the top 10 worse jobs in Science for 2007 would be... and I followed the link she gave to HERE.
Two stood out for me... Solving murders by studying maggots and They kill, pickle, and bottle the critters that schoolkids cut up. Can you imagine going to college to get one of those jobs??? EWWWWWWWWWWWWWww.
Seems one of Harvey's children (one of my blog-uncles) is having a party over at this place. Harvey would like some help. Hope on over and comment on what you can do to help out. GRIN.
Did I catch your attention? Good. It's really easy to do. Here is what the author has to say:
Pass it around to any of your friends - free books for them too if they stick up a blurb for me on their blogs.
Have you noticed I have an 'ad' up on my blog? About half way down the left side. It's the kind of book I like, but can't justify buying. I go to the library and borrow from friends. Ahhhh. But I don't have to buy it now. It's on the way to my house via snail mail. Yipeee!!!!!
You can also have this book free of charge. Just send me an email and I'll send you the info... happydogspeaks at gmail dot com ... got it? Or put a comment out here and make sure your email is available.
And to help you decide if you would like a copy... here is the 'plug' from Amazon on it:
Book Description
"Out of time" is a story about three young men dragged by a freak accident from the early nineteenth century into the high tech world of the twenty-third. They are transported through time from the gundeck of the 74 gun ship of the line HMS Spartan and into the hangar decks of the huge new starship NECS Vanguard.
They must now come to terms not only with the change of time, but with the gap in their understanding of the universe, science and technology - and do this in the midst of a power struggle between those who seek to take over the governments of the free world and those in the political process who through their own corruption and self interest seek to allow this - and those who must prevent it. The Fleet of starships and its dedicated crews must fight to save the freedom of their peoples - and of the aliens enslaved in the service of the plotters.
The three are both a target for corrupt bureaucrats and scientists and a key factor in the frustration of these plans. Harry Heron, Ferghal O'Connor and Danny Gunn are taken out of their time and plunged head first into another where they find they have as much to contribute as they have to learn.
Not difficult to do and you get a prize. I like that kind of work. Psst. You can also put a comment at most any recent post over at the Gray Monk's blog and he'll send you the info straight from the source. Tell 'em the bug sent ya!
Actually, Basil said it best HERE. Go read it and save your friends from a Doofus. As many times as I try to do Blind Copies... occasionally I make a mistake. And yep, I got caught with a virus once. Sucks big time.
Finally, I get to have a Blog-son.
That's right folks... there is a new addition to the family. And what is really scary... he listens. He asked for advice, I gave it to him and after just a little prodding... he made changes. Which proceeded to destroy his blog, but he had the cleanup crew come in and fix it (along with making sure the changes were there).
If it wasn't enough that he listened, I love having children with Talent. Along with a good sense of humor also helps!
Titles like "Dirty Diapers/ Dirty Words" help... particularly when you read:
A diaper changing system, a package of gauze diapers and a changing caddy: I placed them all in my shopping cart and attached the following gift note:
Congrats Angie & JR:
A poop-themed gift to celebrate the arrival of your new little pooper. Sorry we couldn’t be there: we love you so much.
Love,
Matty & Constance
The horrors that emerged upon clicking “submit” were unexpected and maddening: Dumb Baby Stuff’s system returned the message: “Sorry - profanity is not allowed in gift messages. Please resubmit gift card.”
Yaa, I was laughing. Oh.. and the first sucky post? Watch out dog lovers, it has a cutie in it... and if that is sucky... I'm in soooo much trouble. It had me laughing again about how people tell me I treat my kids like dogs...
Do me a favor. Head over to Maybe Baby and welcome the newest member of the Bad Example Family.
Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers. It worked!!! This is what I saw when I looked at the window this afternoon. After it rained last night. The grass turned green, there is water outside. Yes, I understand this little bit of rain is not enough, but it certainly made me smile. Thanks again everyone... I truly believe your good thoughts and prayers made this happen.
Some days, I just have a really odd sense of humor... like when I read
A hedgehog's skin is so tough that when they get run over, its entrails come out of its mouth and its ass.or
A goldfish has a memory span of 3 seconds.(vw comment: I have it beat by about 2 seconds)
at Offbeat Tuesday over at Dazed and Confuzed.
And the Mother's Day post was perfect!
* To be able to eat a whole candy bar (alone) and drink a soda without any "floaties" (ie, backwash).or
* Five pounds of chocolate that won't add twenty pounds to her figure.
or
* A shower without a child peeking through the curtain with a "Hi Ya Mom!" just as she puts a razor to her ankle. (vw comment: This is why I seldom shave anymore)
Yaa... I needed a break after some of the days I have had lately.
A commenter stopped by and asked me to visit his site. Oddly enough, I actually went on over and checked it out. Lately I don't have time to comment but one or two words, much less go check out something new. But I did. It's called "Maybe Baby".
Wow. The writing was excellent. I was also able to empathize since I have gone through something similar with Tater. Though I consider myself one of the lucky ones.
But being the female side of the coin, I didn't have to deal with: "It is my fervent belief that the band that discusses the lead singer’s sperm quality together stays together."
Did I mention this very funny and well versed man asked for my help on his blog? yaa... you can stop laughing now. And start laughing again when you find out that I sent him to Harvey's site. What I forgot was to mention that Harvey's site is not for the faint of heart. I think that's ok, he'll make it alright. And if he can handle checking out Harvey's site and a few of my comments, I might even ask him if I can adopt him. I only have blog daughters. It would be nice to have a blog son. So keep your hands off of him Family!!! Other than to go visit and see what it is like to try and get pregnant when you can't from a maybe dad's point of view.
It's been a rather hectic week. Instead of stories about my boys, I present to you some websites:
Go visit Ms Dewey and do NOT type anything. Just sit and watch it. I laughed so hard watching her. And try the 'best of Dewey' to the right of the search line.
Web Watchdog has some interesting articles
Past and Future Calendar entries to tell you the day of the week in the year 4000.
Those with an odd sense of humor and time to listen to messages... check out Sorry Gotta Go.
technorati: humor
This child has been around for a while. But I now officially claim her as mine!!! She has some humor that is just perfect for me.
It does make an odd twist in the family since her husband is my blog-granddaddy. But hey, this is the BAD EXAMPLE family.
Go on over HERE and wish her welcome!
Hmmm. Seems I have added to my RSS list but not my side bar. There are some really cool sites missing.... like:
Raising 4 Boys
Get a Life (A newbie to the blog world and LeeAnn's offspring)
Maranda Under Stress
Frizzen Sparks is alive at THIS LINK now. It is also updated in my side bar.
If I have missed anyone... oops... just email me or leave a comment.
UPDATE: to the update... I added One for the Road to my sidebar as well. Thanks to Sticks for noticing!!!
Hmmm. I'm not even going to try and figure out this relationship. But I have a new... blog family member. It is soooo exciting. I loved reading the stuff he left at Mrs. Who's place. Now I can go read it at his own. Please take a peak. I had written all sorts of cool stuff about him yesterday but nothing did justice to this opinionated, humourous, and intelligent man. Go check it out for yourself.
Be sure to click that little word 'more' at the bottom to see the rest of his story... and leave a comment!
Seems everyone is getting on the bandwagon and giving T1G a hard time for wanting a gun for Christmas. First Bou and friends come up with this bunny picture and then this one. And it doesn't end there. The perfect gift was found! And it is a blast to play.
UPDATE: After seeing this 'whining' that sounds just like my boys... I decided he needed to see what the 'family' could have done.
Side note: I orginally found how to do this at Letter's From New York City.
I got a call from VW today saying she is offline. Her phone is down, her internet... essentially she is in the communication black hole, with the exception of her cell phone.
She expects it will be back up tomorrow night and asked me to put a quick post up giving y'all the data.
Fingers crossed that the yahoos get it fixed ASAP.
Found THIS POST at Sticks and was snickering about accents. Then I put in my http site on the RedNeckTranslator she found and started to read my posts. Ok, I laughed out loud.
Here it is... put in your favorite http (url) and enjoy reading it a whole new way:
This is a very important post. It is to say Thank You to
Again... I really appreciate you taking the time to post. It made it fun for me when I got home as well.
While perusing Ordinary Days the other day, I found this link... Dear Reader. Woo Hoo I was in book heaven. No more hoping if I would like the book or not.
I have already signed up for a few most notably the pre-publication. In addition, Suzanne Beecher who has the book club has a blog site of the same name: Dear Reader.
So people, if you have avoided reading lately because you don't have the time to figure out you don't like the book, at least give this a try. 5 minutes a day. Instead of raising your blood pressure with the news of the day, take that cup of java, head for your computer and read the day's excerpt. Do yourself a favor...
GUYK is the name and guest blogging and tearing up this house is the game..maybe if this works like the bug said it would. So it is a test..I never failed a test before because I always sat next to the smart kids..and Bug being an engineer is a smart kid..maybe I can copy from her.
I have been lax in getting this out because I have been a bit busy. But I wanted to shout to the world that I met another blogger! Tammi the Road Warrior. Thanks to Bou for arranging it.
Tammi is sweet and great with my kids. She listened to the s.t.u.p.i.d jokes they told. Even getting down close to Tot to try and hear his jokes. He whispers when he is shy. Ok, his voice has two volumes, very quiet or very loud... it was his very quiet volume with Tammi. ... the jokes?
Tot: knock knock
Tammi: who's there?
Tot: whisper whisper whisper (booo)
Tammi: uhhhhh
vw: Tater how about you tell the joke?
Tater: knock knock
Tammi: who's there?
Tater: Boo
Tammi: Boo who
Tater: Boohoo, why are you crying, it's a beautiful day
Tot: knock knock
Tammi: who's there?
Tot: whisper whisper whisper (chicken)
Tammi: chicken who?
Tot: Chicken in your stinky diaper
Sigh.... yaa... you could hear the stinky diaper part. Someone remind me why boys think stinky stuff is sooo funny.
Every once in a while... there is someone who is really easy to pick on in the blog-o-sphere. Contagion of Miasmatic Review is one of those people. And Grau let out of the bag that today is his birthday.
At first I thought Contagion had taken on another persona HERE. Or maybe had started a new line of work HERE.
Then I realized he was renting himself out HERE.
The poor man... and his poor wife.
I guess it was time to pull out the big guns and give him a gift he really needs.
A spa treatment and a makeover.
I am sure after you enjoy your gifts that you will feel younger and better. GRIN
Did it work? Did I get your attention? Phew. They are moving my blog to another computer on Sunday, the 1st of October. Ok Ok, they are moving all the mu.nu blogs. This means you will not be able to read my wonderful stories or see my cute boys for some time on Sunday. In fact, it gives me a great reason NOT to post on Sunday. Ohhh... I have stories. I also have had so little sleep in the last week that I am not up to telling them all.
Right now I'm dealing with antibiotics and ear drops for Tot. Yep, went to the doctor today. And Tater is still not quite over his allergies or cold... your guess is as good as mine. I just hope we can get one night with someone NOT waking up coughing.
Ohhh. I forgot last night... hat tip to Teresa at Technicalities for warning about the move on Sunday.
Seems I am always a day late and a dollar short. I had the perfect opportunity to have my boys sing happy birthday to Bou a few days earlier and missed it. Seems I can't ever remember birthdays. Good thing Harvey doesn't forget. I can't even top the gift he got her. Geeze, I want one of those kitchen gadgets.
Bou, have a happy birthday today!!!
Needed a little humor this morning... Saw this picture and new the perfect answer. Oddybobo is always putting out pictures for 'White Trash Wednesdays'... and I got this picture in an email... I just couldn't resist posting it for her. I just wish I knew where it came from so I could give appropriate credit for this 'Gas Grill'.
UPDATE: I'm so sleep deprived this week, I didn't even see the post Sticks snuck in for me... I looked right at it and missed it... until just now. Sleep, dear precious sleep.
or better yet
I totally forgot my blog is 2 years old... I probably wouldn't have even created this post, if I hadn't seen such a wonderful tribute over at Sticks' place.
Thank you Blogworld for making my life a little more sane, for adding new friends into my life, bringing back old friends and for caring.
Hopefully, I have everyone back on my template. Take a look and see if you are there or not. Please leave a comment or send me an email if you are missing. Thanks!!!
And Bou... thanks for fixing my template to close out old comments when I was on vacation. It really did cut down on the spam.
Since I had some time I thought I would visit people on my blogroll. Seems that the last time I saved my template it CUT OFF most of my template. Anything after the first four entries of my non-BE family is GONE!!!! ARRGHHHHHHHH. Along with some other stuff. I will be trying to find everyone via other blogs but who knows. Hopefully the template I have saved at home has it all and I didn't copy and paste a half-ar-se template back and save it.
Please take a look and let me know if you are missing. I noticed Jennifer and Jenny and Daisy and quite a few of my 'normal' visits are gone. Sniff sniff. I don't have time to go hunting while I'm here!!!!!!
I hear something going on in the other room right now. Guess my computer time is done. Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Yesterday I left Bou a message on her cell phone. In jest, the last part of the message was something like "I hope you get this since you are in podunk Alabama... might not have cell service there".
Much to my surprise, I hear my phone ring this morning and it is either Bou or my mom. They both have Jingle Bells as their ring. It was from Bou... but it was a ring to inform me I had a text message:
Very funny... at least she is still alive and has a sense of humor.
Since I won't be putting out a post for tomorrow... I thought some links to other sites would be in order:
For some delicious recipes, go check out the 4th of July edition of the Carnival of Recipes at Caterwauling.
For some interesting headlines and fun links, check out Basil's site.
Gotta good book you can suggest to ArmyWifeToddlerMom? Go over and help her figure out what to do while her hubby is gone again.
And a special Banana Pudding recipe from Bou... worth it just to read the comments.
And Sticks just shocked me with the Weather Pixie report she posted.
This should keep you busy for a little while. And I gotta run... swim lessons, cooking, cleaning, and I forgot to make their letter lesson last night... why? I had to BEAT hubby's friend at scrabble. For the first time ever. Of course hubby whipped our rear-ends... sigh. At least I wasn't last as usual. My brain is slowly coming back to me.
Thanks to CalTech Girl... I now have my categories listed on the side of my blog. You click on a category and you get everything I have marked in that category. Yipeee... no more searching on a particular recipe...
Uhhh. I guess I forgot to warn everyone. I'm making changes to my blog. I'm going to add a few categories and move things around. You'll notice that the blog roll is now at the bottom. There are two... just like before. Except the Bad Example Family is the blogroll that Harvey made for his 'family' to use. I kept missing people and have finally given up on hand adding them. The other list is the one for those not in his family. I hand make that list. If you are missing, please leave a comment or send me an email. Now is the time. I'm making changes.
More to come over the following week.
Life is a little strange in the blog world. I am my sister's mother. And while emailing to Sticks, she mentioned that
Since she and I are sisters and you and she are sisters that make you and I sisters? This family tree must be of the ficus variety because we are a twisted bunch.
I couldn't see say it better myself. What is this all about? My sister, Tink, has decided to start a blog. I am psyched!!! She is smart, witty and has a great twisted sense of humor.
She has the traditional sucky first post. And she was brave enough to post a picture of me without any help. Probably because I would have said NO NO NO. Ahhh. The difficulties of having an older sister as a child.
Please go welcome Tink to the blogosphere at
Side Note: I realize from this that I have been adding people to my RSS reader but not on my site. If you are missing from my side bar, please let me know. I will try to add people over the next couple of days.
I put up the tartan. I also made it green. blhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Now I just need a quote from Harvey... all the ones I have made up just come out sounding vulgar. And I can't use real comments ... like the one he made here: "mmmm... bug extract :-)"
Any ideas?
... just because I want to put a quote up from Harvey... I'm going to join the loosely based Scottish notion Clan. Then again I have to put up that weird BLUE tartan banner. Couldn't be green huh? Geeze.
I am #11 for Monkey Butt Sniffing Finger. Give me a Break! I guess I should be happy I wasn't #1. I will blame this on GuyK. He just had to put something in my comments on Butt Sniffing. GRIN. Yaa, I bet I move up in the ranks now that I have this post.

Someone from P'cola, that came over from Bou's blog. h~ seems to be the winner. Who are you h~ and do you have a blog? Thanks for stopping by and rolling my numbers over 10k.
Whoever comes by and hits 10k, please let me know. When I was on blogger, I totally missed it. By about 2000 hits. Oops. But right now it is sitting at 9916. Sometime today or tomorrow morning it should roll over. Just let me know!!! If you are a blogger, I'll be glad to link to you and give you praise for stopping by. ;-)
UPDATE: Getting closer. 9991. Moving this post to the top. Don't forget to let me know if you are 10,000.
Thanks to everyone for stopping by and helping my numbers. The analytical person in me is just jumping for joy.
In an email from Bou she told me I had been put in for the Parenting Weblog Awards. WHAT???? Whoever did this... THANK YOU!!! I feel so special.
Oh... and if you feel like, go vote.
Just a short blog entry to let you know I'm alive. Not that I have much time. The realtor is coming tomorrow to walk through and let us know what needs to be changed to help it sell. We have 8 weeks to get it sold. Sigh. Not enough stress in my life. ;-)
It is time to clean up the 'computer' area. Wires to be moved, desks to be moved. This means I will be out of internet service for 24 hours (or until I can get it all plugged in again). No reading blogs, no responding to emails, no posts from me. EEEEK.
Hopefully when it comes back up, all will work.
Taking a hint from The Laughing Wolf - More Later. I have pictures and stories, but need to take a break for the day. Go check out my blogroll and see what you can find! Random Thoughts from MaryBeth, Random Fate, Texas Ducks, Boudicca, Iowa Geek, Ogre's Politics... all different types of blogs. And Basil's Blog will send you all over the place.
I stole plagiarized borrowed this from my Blog Granddaddy Harvey.
Blogsomething Contagion of Miasmatic Review announces that from 7pm Saturday, July 30th to 7am Sunday, July 31st, you should get drunk and comment on any (or every) blog on the Bad Example and/or Frizzen Family blogrolls. Here are the rules:
A) You have to be 21 years old to participate. I don’t want some minor’s parents coming back and saying I told them to get pissed drunk and go on the internet. If you are under 21, you may still participate, as a designated blogger.2) Drink as much as you comfortably feel you should. This is for fun, I don’t want to have blog fodder stories involving charcoal slurries and ER visits. Be responsible, especially if you have to drive. I’m saying right now that if you do something stupid and hurt yourself I will make fun of you. I am neither legally, morally nor ethically responsible for anything you do either in the real world or on the internet. You are all adults and responsible for your own actions.
D) Please attempt to limit the Blog Crawl comments to the time frame listed. Just so, it’s easier to track. Not that I’m going to link to every single post that has a comment on it, I just don’t want to search for them Sunday to see what everyone said. Oh, and a drunken post on your own blog is perfectly acceptable and I will link to those.
4) Try to leave a comment on every blog in the Bad Example and Frizzen Sparks family. You may use my side bar as a reference if you don’t know who they are. Do not feel limited to these blogs only, go ahead and hit any other blog you would like as well. Oh, and a drunken post on your own blog is perfectly acceptable and I will link to those.
This is from Harvey:
(Yeah, I know. But he always numbers things that way)Anyway, dingus forgot two things.
Now go read THIS POST from Harvey to find out what Contagion forgot.
No way! Actually it is one of the banners that Amy from Prochein Amy made for me. She has a great write-up on what we went through to come up with my two banners. Including one with a Pink Frilly Dress. Go check out what happened to come up with the two banners I have now. It's good for a laugh or two. Besides you'll get to see my stove top. Really!
My first 'real' post is to say thank you. CalTechGirl at Not Exactly Rocket Science, Amy at Prochein Amy, Orge at Ogre's View, Ted at Rocket Jones, Elsa at Elsa's Photography and Sissy at And What Next. I appreciate all you have done for me. I couldn't have made it over here without you.
