Happy Halloween

For Halloween, I am posting pictures of the boys at the Pumpkin Patch. We never did buy a pumpkin. And I never got a good picture for Christmas.

When we first got there, I tried to get them to sit together in a bench chair. These are the results:

= = = = = =

Next, they wanted to pick up a pumpkin or two. Tater started it:

And while I was taking this picture, Tater let go of the pumpkin. Why it didn't go SPLAT, I do not know.

= = = = =

Tater has reached the point were he loves to get his picture taken.

= = = = = =

And here is 'ol fuss bucket, asking to be picked up:

= = = = = =

Let's just go running up and down the pumpkins:

= = = = = =

Mom tries one last time to get a picture of the two of them together. Everyone was happy and running around. As soon as I pull out the camera... the acting begins. Tater clowning around and Tot 'crying'. The most fake cry you ever heard.

Guess I'll try again some other time to get some pictures of the two of them together.

Happy Halloween

Do You Know The Answer?

Life has been extremely stressful for the last week, so I have decided to have a contest. If you can correctly name the songs (or come close) that have these lyrics in them, I will link to you in my next 3 posts. How? Who knows, but I'll do it. On the honor system... no googling the answers! You have until 7am Monday to come up with the answers. Asking relatives is acceptable. GRIN.

1. Oh, where is my hairbrush? Oh where is my hairbrush? Oh, where, oh, where, oh, where, oh, where, oh, where, oh, where, oh, where, oh, where oh, where ... is my hairbrush?

2. Cold spaghetti, cold spaghetti
(Cold spaghetti, cold spaghetti)
Cold spaghetti, cold spaghetti
(Cold spaghetti, cold spaghetti)
Cold spaghetti, cold spaghetti (spaghetti)
Spaghetti, (spaghetti) spaghetti
Spaghetti, spaghetti

3. If my lips said "Adios, I don't like you, I think you're gross." That'd be too bad, I might get mad.

4. This is a song for your poor, sick penguin
He's got a fever and his toes are blue
But if I sing to your poor, sick penguin
He will feel better in a day or two
Yodel-leh-hee yodel-leh-hee yodel-leh-hoo
Yodel-leh-hee yodel-lee-eee-ooo
Yodel-leh-hee yodel-leh-hee yodel-leh-hoo
Yada-yada yada-yada yad-eee-ooo

5. (Squawk, Whistle)
Cocky want a cracker (Repeat)

(Squawk, Whistle)
Pieces of eight (Repeat)

Everyone around the zoo
they heard the cockys song
They sang and danced along with cocky too

6. If there's a place you got to go
I'm the one you need to know
I'm the Map
I'm the Map
I'm the Map
If there's a place you got to get
I can get you there I bet
I'm the Map (repeat 12 times)

Are you getting the idea that you have to say something over and over and over again in a song?

7. Like a moth to a flame
Burned by the fire
My love is blind
Can't you see my desire

You didn't think they would ALL be kids songs did you?

But the first 6... I pretty much know by heart now. Ugh. Good luck! The one with the most correct answers win!!! BTW, Bou cannot participate since she is the one that gave me some of those songs. GRIN.

This will also be the only post this weekend, unless I can find a few minutes to sneak in another. I think I will be waiting in line for gas and it still takes an hour or more. Go shopping at Lowes or Home Depot to get stuff and the grocery store again. Did I mention I have a birthday party to go to tomorrow and have not bought the soon to be 4 year old GIRL a gift. So much to do and no gas to get there. ;-)

The Grocery Store

We went to the grocery store at 8am in the morning yesterday. The gas line was long enough to be getting in the way of the grocery store. Only to find out those people were being directed to go out to the road and get in line. More on that later.

We all went. Dad, kids, mom and half the town. Over all it was not a bad experience. Tot cried and wanted to be held. Tater wanted to pull stuff off the shelves. They were out of bananas, chicken and decent meats. We got most of what we wanted. And Hubby found some quick frozen chicken cutlets in a bag. I'll take it.

They were also giving out free ice. The man passing it out, actually offered it to me. I said no. Just because it's free doesn't mean I need to get it. I wondered though how many were getting because it was free and offered to them. I'll never know. If you want a good rant on people taking stuff for free, check out THIS POST by Bou or THIS POST by Sticks (Though Sticks is whining, she has good points and while there, wish her a happy birthday).

Before we left, Tot stopped crying, Tater quit taking stuff off the shelves. But monkey see, monkey do in this family. While waiting in line to check out, Tot started taking candy bars off the shelf and putting them up with the other food. I think I took at least 3 bars off. I finally told the cashier if she saw any candy bars to put them aside and I would put them back.

Hard to believe it was only day 3. I am certainly hoping it gets better in a couple of more days.

Not that we watch that much tv, but they only wanted to watch the SAME video over and over and over and over again. Tater knew the words to very line of it. UGH.

Wilma - the Aftermath

Remember that little opening in the soffit? It became a big hole. Take a look:

And I was not happy when I saw this limb fly over my house and land beside my car. I really thought it was going to scratch and dent it.

Notice the top of the tree is gone. I can't believe it didn't hit the roof of our house and take out shingles.

Take a look at the banana trees. Now go back and check the picture from a couple of days ago. Yep, they really did get pushed to the completely to the other side.

This is my neighbor's yard. What a mess we all have.

These trees border my property. What you see on the road is similar to what you see in my yard. Ugh.

The wind was still blowing hard enough to make ripples in the water like wave.

Here are those tree that you saw on the road from my house:

And here is part of my neighbor's fence around her well. Yep, it blew over our 4 1/2 foot fence and about another 80 feet.

Ok, no more Wilma pictures. Back to kid pictures and stories soon.

More Humor for Dreaded Wednesday

A lady walks into a drug store and tells the pharmacist she needs some cyanide.

The pharmacist said, "Why in the world do you need cyanide?"

The lady then explained she needed it to poison her husband.

The pharmacist's eyes got big and he said, "Lord have mercy, I can't give you cyanide to kill your husband!

That's against the law! I'll lose my license; they'll throw both of us in jail and all kinds of bad things will happen!

Absolutely not, you can NOT have any cyanide!"

The lady reached into her purse and Pulled out a picture of her husband in bed with the pharmacist's wife.

The pharmacist looked at the picture and replied, "Well, now. You didn't tell me you had a prescription."

Wilma - During the Eye Wall

It was recorded that we had over 100MPH winds in my area. I can believe it considering the damage that was done. I am VERY happy that she was hauling her be-hind out of here so quickly. It would have been devastating if she had been moving slow.

Here is one picture from when the first eye wall we got... notice the little opening in the soffit under the roof... and the direction the limbs are leaning.

Here is a picture of when the winds started to pick up for the second go 'round.

And here it is when the winds really were whipping around! Take a look at the cocoanut tree in the back ground.

Today my hubby is out cutting broken limbs and trying to make sure we didn't sustain any more damage. I'll put up more pictures tomorrow that I took right after the storm passed.

Now the Fun Begins

This news tidbit from one of the local news stations (highlighting is mine):

Turnpike service plazas in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Martin counties have fuel but motorists are experiencing long lines of up to three hours.

Gasoline purchases are limited to $20.00 per vehicle, NOT per person...

As of 4pm today, Florida Power and Light reports:
           Without            With            Total customers
Palm Beach 644,300            19,200            663,500

Bou has power!!!

Update as of 6am 10/26/05:
           631,100            32,400            663,500

This is just scary. The news and FPL are both reporting that it may be up to 7 days before 1/2 that number get power and a month before the rest.

Happy Birthday Hubby

It's my husband's birthday today. I searched the web for a poem to post that said it best. Writing about my love for my husband is not easy for me. Give me numbers any day over writing. But I decided to do this on my own. Patience my friends and family, I will get it out:

Husband, I love you. You have helped me through hard times, you have held me for no reason at all, you have helped raise our children, you are fun and funny. It is hard to put in words all the wonderful feelings I have had over the years. The excitement of learning about hockey from you, the fun of teaching you about horses. Traveling the world, staying home and being together. Not every day has been wonderful, but I wouldn't trade what I have with you.

I hope your birthday is fun and you can look back at Wilma and the things we went through with a smile. I hope your birthday gifts actually make it in the mail soon. But I think they are going to be late. Happy Birthday Husband.

I was going to post pictures

It's almost 10pm and I am off to bed. It has been a long couple of days. I tried to upload my first set of pictures to image shack and it failed every time. I give up. I'll try again tomorrow... but I don't know when. I will be entertaining two children who have no outside activities to do. I will have to keep them inside most of the time until the snakes, ants and other critters get settled. I have no cable. Power, yes. Cable, no.

Thank you everyone for stopping by and leaving a comment. I really appreciate it.

I just talked with VW. They came through Wilma fine. Hurricane Wilma provided Dad and the boys with some good quality time. Minimal damage to the house. Trees down. She has pictures to post. She has power restored already, but is still busy with the boys and husband. She will be back on line soon. She said to tell everyone thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and wishes.

Rainy Day Ideas for Kids

VW is hunkered down with her family staying safe from Hurricane Wilma. She wasn't sure if she would have electricity, opportunity, or sanity in order to post today. Rainy days with kids can drive you nuts if you are not prepared. So, here are a few suggestions and links to keep the monsters children occupied and help you maintain some sanity.

Kids First Internet has several suggestions. You can have a treasure hunt, make play dough or do a talent show.

The King County Library has it's own kids page. It's full of suggestions and links.

The University of Florida has a site for kids too.

So, before the rain comes and the electricity goes, check these out, prepare and maybe being stuck inside will be fun for everyone.

Feed Me

What not to do when a hurricane might be coming your way - Go to the grocery store at 10pm at night. I usually shop twice a week... Mondays and Fridays at the grocery store. With the storm coming, I thought I would go last night and get the stuff I would cook for the weekend. I have hurricane supplies and didn't need those! Water, can'd goods, bags... you know the drill. Instead, I was going to get a few extra of the perishables. Basically things you don't need when a hurricane hits. Milk (goes sour when no electricity is keeping the fridge going), bananas (they only last 2 or 3 days before turning black), bread (in the humidity with no electricity, they mold in less than a week). But I didn't have enough to last through Sunday... so I thought I would chance getting some of that, along with hamburger or chicken to cook asap. Wouldn't want to waste that money having it thaw in the freezer.

Ready for this? There was not ONE banana, I had to buy 4 quart milks because all the rest was gone, and there was NO bread. What were these people thinking? This stuff does NOT last. Why buy so much of it? Soups? A ton left. can'd fruit? I was able to stock up. Peanut Butter? Didn't look like anyone bought a single jar.

Help me out here... I wanted ONE loaf of bread, ONE gallon of milk and about 9 bananas (that lasts us about 3 days)... Why would everyone buy as much of that stuff as they could carry? It is going to SPOIL! You will have NO POWER.

Ok, done venting. But if you can explain the logic of why they went crazy on those items to me, I would appreciate it.

Some Halloween Humor:

Why did the ghost go trick or treating on the top floor?
He was in high spirits!

What is a skeletons favourite drink?
Milk - it's so good for the bones!

And now some other humor:

A family is at the dinner table. The son asks his father, "Dad, how many kinds of boobies are there?" The father, surprised, answers, "Well, son, there's three kinds of breasts. In her twenties, a woman's breasts are like melons, round and firm. In her Thirties to forties, they are like pears, still nice but hanging a bit. After fifty, they are like onions."
"Onions?"
"Yes, you see them and they make you cry."
This infuriated his wife and daughter so the daughter said, "Mum, how many kinds of 'willies' are there?"

The mother, surprised, smiles and answers, "Well dear, a man goes through three phases. In his twenties, his willy is like an oak tree, mighty and hard. In his thirties and forties, it is a birch, flexible but reliable. After his fifties, it is like a Christmas tree."
"A Christmas tree?"
"Yes, dead from the root up and the balls are for decoration only."

You Mean These Aren't In the Dictionary?

The Washington Post's Mensa Invitational once again asked readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition.

Here are a few of this year's winners:

1. Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.
2. Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly.
3. Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people that stops bright ideas from penetrating. The bozone layer, unfortunately, shows little sign of breaking down in the near future.
4. Inoculatte: To take coffee intravenously when you are running late.
5. Decafalon (n.): The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.
6. Glibido: All talk and no action.
7. Dopeler effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.
8. Arachnoleptic fit (n.): The frantic dance performed just after you've accidentally walked through a spider web.
9. Caterpallor (n.): The color you turn after finding half a worm in the fruit you're eating.

And the pick of the literature:

10. Ignoranus: A person who's both stupid and a pain in the rear.

More Humor for Dreaded Wednesday

I saw this many years ago and it couldn't be proved as a hoax, I can't believe it is true... still, this is just hilarious...

The next time you have a bad day at work... think of this guy.

Rob is a commercial saturation diver for Global Divers in Louisiana. He performs underwater repairs on offshore drilling rigs. Below is an E-mail he sent to his sister. She then sent it to radio station 103.2 on FM dial in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, who was sponsoring a worst job experience contest.

Needless to say, she won.

Hi Sis:

Just another note from your bottom-dwelling brother. Last week I had a bad day at the office. I know you've been feeling down lately at work, so I thought I would share my dilemma with you to make you realize it's not so bad after all. Before I can tell you what happened to me, I first must bore you with a few technicalities of my job.

As you know, my office lies at the bottom of the sea. I wear a suit to the office. It's a wet suit. This time of year the water is quite cool.

So what we do to keep warm is this: We have a diesel powered industrial water heater. This $20,000 piece of equipment sucks the water out of the sea. It heats it to a delightful temperature. It then pumps it down to the diver through a garden hose, which is taped to the air hose.

Now this sounds like a darn good plan, and I've used it several times with no complaints. What I do, when I get to the bottom and start working, is take the hose and stuff it down the back of my wet suit.

This floods my whole suit with warm water. It's like working in a Jacuzzi.

Everything was going well until all of a sudden, my butt started to itch. So, of course, I scratched it. This only made things worse. Within a few seconds my butt started to burn. I pulled the hose out from my back, but the damage was done. In agony I realized what had happened. The hot water machine had sucked up a jellyfish and pumped it into my suit.

Now, since I don't have any hair on my back, the jellyfish couldn't stick to it. However, the crack of my butt was not as fortunate.

When I scratched what I thought was an itch, I was actually grinding the jellyfish into the crack of my butt.

I informed the dive supervisor of my dilemma over the communicator. His instructions were unclear due to the fact that he, along with five other divers, were all laughing hysterically.

Needless to say I aborted the dive. I was instructed to make three agonizing in-water decompression stops totaling thirty-five minutes before I could reach the surface to begin my chamber dry decompression.

When I arrived at the surface, I was wearing nothing but my brass helmet.

As I climbed out of the water, the medic, with tears of laughter running down his face, handed me a tube of cream and told me to rub it on my butt as soon as I got in the chamber. The cream put the fire out, but I couldn't poop for two days because my butt was swollen shut.

So, next time you're having a bad day at work, think about how much worse it would be if you had a jellyfish shoved up your butt.

Now repeat to yourself, "I love my job, I love my job, I love my job"

The Cat

You don't have to own a cat to appreciate this one...

A couple was dressed and ready to go out for the evening. They turned on a night light, turned the answering machine on the phone line, covered their pet parakeet and put the cat in the backyard. They phoned the local cab company and requested a taxi. The taxi arrived and the couple opened the front door to leave their house. The cat they had put out into the yard scoots back into the house. They don't want the cat shut in the house because she always tries to eat the bird. The wife goes out to the taxi while the husband goes inside to get the cat. The cat runs upstairs, the man in hot pursuit.

Waiting in the cab, the wife doesn't want the driver to know the house will be empty for the night. She explains to the taxi driver that her husband will be out soon. "He's just going upstairs to say good-bye to my mother."

A few minutes later, the husband gets into the cab. "Sorry I took so long,"he says, as they drive away.

"Stupid bitch was hiding under the bed. Had to poke her with a coat hanger to get her to come out! She tried to take off so I grabbed her by the neck. Then I had to wrap her in a blanket to keep her from scratching me. But it worked. I hauled her fat ass downstairs and threw her out into the backyard!"

The cab driver hit a parked car...

Tot's Birthday

Tot woke up in Mommy and Daddy's bed this morning. He decided that being awake and fussy from 2:30am to 5:30am was a great way to start his birthday.

I love the arm/hand print to make the tree. And then the change of the seasons. What a cool way to help them learn it.

More Humor for Dreaded Wednesday

I recently picked a new primary care physician. After two visits and exhaustive lab tests, he said I was doing "fairly well for my age".

A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him, "Do you think I'll live to be 80?"

He asked, "Well, do you smoke tobacco or drink beer/wine?"

"Oh no," I replied. "I'm not doing either."

Then he asked, "Do you eat rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs?" I said, "No, my other Doctor said that all red meat is very unhealthy!"

"Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, sailing, hiking, or bicycling?" "No, I don't," I said.

He asked, "Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex?" "No," I said. "I don't do any of those things."

He looked at me and said, "Then why do you give a sh.t if you live to be 80 ?"

Thanks to Indigo for these!

THE MOMMY TEST

I was out walking with my 4 year old daughter. She picked up something off the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I took the item away from her and I asked her not to do that. "Why?" my daughter asked. "Because it's been laying outside, you don't know where it's been, it's dirty and probably has germs" I replied. At this point, my daughter looked at me with total admiration and asked, "Wow! How do you know all this stuff?" "Uh," .I was thinking quickly, "All moms mknow this stuff. It's on the Mommy Test. You have to know it, or they don't let you be a Mommy." We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new information. "OH...I get it!" she beamed, "So if you don't pass the test, you have to be the daddy." "Exactly" I replied back with a big smile on my face and joy in my heart.

House Decorating Party

Knock, Knock......

*sticks peeks in door*

"Oh good, coast is clear. She should never had left her 'house' open."

*nosing around house*

"Here's what I'm looking for. The keys to her new house. It's almost finished. So, I figure since VW is such a busy mom, she would really appreciate our help decorating it. So grab the few provisions she left and any you want to bring and lets head down the road to the new house. Won't she be so surprised?!!!!!!! It will be great that she won't have to decorate it."

"Wait, let me see what I have in my garage I can donate."

*rummages through garage*

"Hey, I think this gold and green shag carpeting will look great in the living room. Anyone have a velvet Elvis or the Dogs playing poker picture? Those would be awesome in here."

"Wow, I found the perfect couch. Don't you think she will like this?"

"Okay, friends. Let's get busy. Grab some paint. Drag in some furniture. Have a shot or two. And let's get this house decorating party going. We don't have long she will be back Monday evening. Spread the word to everyone. Have fun!"

Leaving the Door Open

I will be out of town for a couple of days. The keys to the blog are held by a couple of people. If they want to leave a post or two... that's cool. If not, you will only have this post until Tuesday morning.

Yaa. I can see it coming. Comment Party? Well, if you are wanting to visit my house and party... the supplies I have on hand are: Chocolate, Wine (lots and lots of wine), I noticed the Vodka and Kaluha are gone, kids toys, bananas, dog toys, videos, and a double stroller. Oh, did I mention we have a pool? But you will have to bring all the other stuff.

Have fun, do NOT behave. Please make sure someone picks up any small stuff my kids might want to play with and should NOT play with before I get back.
